Rar or zip is a compression format it is used to

make files smaller and gather all of them together

(if there are many).

The files that are downloadable are USUALLY

in these kind of formats.

So when you download a file you usually

see the .zip or .rar extension.So here is a guide

how to unzip a rar or zip file.

You can unzip these kind of files with many ways.

I will explain the most usual here.So this is how 

to unzip a rar or zip file .



With winrar.

With 7-zip.

With windows unzip (windows xp-vista-7).



With winrar  :

1.First of all download and install winrar.

You will find it here.You can download

a trial version -which works perfectly,

you just get a pop-up window

when you start it, that says you are

using a trial version.

Simply close it.-

2.Double-click the zipped file.

It will look like this image : 
3.When you double click you will get an image like this :

4.Click the Extract To button as shown in the circle above.

You will get this :

5.If you click ok then the file(s) will be

unzipped in the same folder

(you can change if you like the destination path)

as the zipped file and will automatically

create a folder with a name as your zip file.

In this case the folder created has a name

"createyourfirstwebsite"

and inside there are the unzipped files .

In this case the "createyourfirstwebsite.pdf" file.

6.After step 5 you can delete the zip file.You are done !



With 7-zip  :

1.First of all download and install 7-zip.

You will find it here.

7-zip is open source software.

That means is totally FREE !

2.Double-click the zipped file.

It will look like this image :

3.When you double click you will get an image like this :

As you can see step 3 is similar to step 3 in winrar

(see step 3 of winrar above).

4.Click the Extract button.

You will get this :

5.If you click ok then the file(s) will be

unzipped in the same folder

(you can change if you like the destination path)

as the zipped file.The difference from winrar

is that 7-zip does not create a folder,

with a name of your zip file.

So after clicking ok the file(s)

are extracted in the destination folder

(where "copy to" as shown to the image above).

In this example it will extract

createyourfirstwebsite.pdf

in your desktop.

6.After step 5 you can delete the zip file.You are done !



With windows unzip  :

Windows has its own program for unzip.

Just to mention that this guide and images

are for windows 7.For windows xp is

a little bit different.

1.Double-click the zipped file.It will look 

like this image (if you haven't install any other software

like winrar or 7-zip):

2.In the window that opens, click Extract all files.

3.The Extraction Wizard opens.

4.In the Select a Destination panel, select the location

where you want the folder to be placed,

for example, the Desktop.You can uncheck

"show extracted files when complete" if you want.

It is checked by default. Click Extract.

5.Use the contents of the zipped file as instructed in

the solution.You can delete then the zipped file.

You are done !

I hope you understand how to unzip a rar or zip file,

using these three programs.You can choose

whatever you like, they are similar and

they do the same job.I personally use winrar.

Something last to mention is that when

you download winrar or 7-zip be careful

to download the correct version depending

on your windows system.

You can find the version of your windows in :

Control Panel\System and Security\System.
